Wedding Traditions
3 New Wedding Traditions
I am writing this article for all those who are getting married and need help planning. There are a few new traditions that have developed in past years that are a fun addition to any wedding. If you need some ideas then keep reading.
Before I get started I want you to know that wedding traditions are a fun way to celebrate. From cutting the cake to the father daughter dance there are many traditions that define a wedding. Only one of the traditions I will share should replace another tradition. The other traditions should just add to the wedding.

Sparklers
An old wedding tradition is to throw bird seeds on the bride and groom as they leave the wedding reception. This is the tradition that can be replaced. You don’t have to replace it but I sure wouldn’t want bird seeds all over me if I was a bride in a dress. A fun replacement is sparklers. The first time I saw this was at a Draper Wedding Venue a few summers ago. Give sparklers to each guest and have them make 2 lines from the door to the bride and grooms car. Lite the sparklers and watch the bride and groom run through them. This makes for a great picture.
The Money Dance
As we all know most newlyweds are not rich. It is common for your first years to be a financial struggle. Most of us would love to help these couples. The Money Dance is a Polynesian tradition that is spreading to other cultures. I first saw this tradition at a Park City wedding reception a few years ago. People will volunteer to dance in front of the crowd and if you are impressed then you go and throw money around them. This money goes to the bride and groom as donation. The bride and groom are each encouraged to dance. This is a great way to raise money for the new couple.
A Fast Group Dance
We have seen it in the past but it isn’t always a tradition. A fast group dance such as a country line dance or a hip hop routine is a great way to get guests involved. Too often it takes several songs to get guests to the dance floor. Make sure and your close friends know a dance and encourage others to join you. This usually brings some life to the party.
I have only shared 3 new traditions but I know there are plenty of fun ideas. Look around for more ideas and don’t be afraid to try something new. New and unique makes a wedding memorable. Have a great wedding and be smart as you begin your new life.
